Take Back Your Groove

Often during a relationship, we lose ourselves. We settle down, get comfortable, become lazy, and stop caring about ourselves. We stop being the person that our partner fell in love with. So, guess what happens? You guessed it. Our partners fall out of love with us. Okay, so how do you save the relation and ourselves, you ask? Simple… you take your groove back. It won’t be easy. You’ll have to work hard, be uncomfortable, and make sacrifices, but it will be worth it.

Getting your groove back will be different for each person, but here is a list of examples that might work for you:

  • Take up a hobby or two
  • Get a makeover and change your look
  • Take classes that interest you
  • Start or increase exercising
  • See a therapist to discuss your situation
  • Join some clubs or social groups
  • Get healthy by seeing your doctor and eating better
  • Set both short-term and long-term goals
  • Learn a new language
  • Take a relaxing vacation with positive people
  • Volunteer to help others
  • Focus on your religious practices
  • Go back to work or find a better job
  • Get your finances in order
  • Organize your home and car
  • Be grateful for what you have
  • Forgive any trespasses
  • Recite positive affirmations to yourself
  • Say 10 kind things to yourself each day in the mirror

As you can see this is not an exhausted list, but it should give you some good ideas. Divorce is a very difficult time, but it will go faster and smoother if you take the focus off the negative aspects of your situation and focus on the positive aspects of moving forward and improving your life. By focusing on new and positive activities and goals, you’ll find yourself again and get your groove back. So, take the first step toward your new life and the new you and GET YOUR GROOVE ON!
